Tips and tutorials for working with Templates

A few Tutorials/Tips
for filling in templates with backgrounds, and  or graphics
using various software programs

REMEMBER:
When opening a blank template in your graphics software program, duplicate the image, and use that duplicate to work on or fill.
Never save changes made on a Original graphic or template - or you will lose the original graphic or blank template. Save a changed original with a NEW name. If the program prompts you, asking if you want to save changes to original graphic or template image - Say NO!

After saving templates from the web, open them in your favorite software program,
and print out the blank as the full or exact size (that you saved/downloaded as), and assemble - so that you will have a model for future reference and/or see if you have to make adjustments on sizing etc. from the original saved template graphic.
Use your own softwares measuring tools to resize a template to be the size you need it to be.
Sizing a Small graphic UP - may distort it. Sizing a graphic down is easier and will cause less distortion. Images created for printing are usually 300dpi images.
If an image was created in a smaller DPI, you can't increase the DPI yourself and
obtain a better or clearer or larger print. Usually - What you save as - is what you get.

Another PCCrafter how-to, filling in a template with a background image or a background (paper) graphic / pattern, using
Adobe PhotoShop Elements 2
1. Open your Background image that you want to use for fill
2. Select "all of it"
3. Under the "Edit" menu choose "Define pattern from selection"
4. Open your template image, and using the "magic wand" tool, select area you want to fill
5. Go to Edit menu, choose "Fill" then "Pattern", and choose the pattern you defined or saved in step 3.
6. Your area should now be filled in with that particular background.

Here is example of my own attempt at following the above directions
*I was so happy to be able to figure this out
