Creating a Jiffy Popcorn Cover Circle -
using Adobe PhotoShop Elements version 2

How I do it - screen shot pic-tutorial

Note: there may be better and or easier ways to do what
I do using the various features of Photoshop Elements.
This pictorial is just my attempt to demonstrate how
I accomplish these projects "my way".
If you have found an easier tutorial or instructions on these tasks, please feel free to email me and I will provide a link to your online resource for that information.
Open Photoshop Elements

(**and Open the Deluxe Hugbug Browser,
if you will be using images or graphics from that resource.
I own and use the Deluxe browser to take advantage of the feature of dragging and dropping graphics from browser and placing in graphic software programs, and when holding down shift key as I drag image, the image will be transparent when brought into workspace of many software programs)

Click on "new document" icon - looks like a piece of paper,
and create an image with the size in inches -
for a Circle to fit on a Jiffy Popcorn top -
the best size is 7.5 by 7.5 inches.
You can choose to make the canvas white or transparent.

I will choose to make the image workspace, "transparent"
then I will choose "marquee" tool, and choose "eliptical" as the tool to make the Circle
I will place my cursor at top of image canvas, and draw circle till it fills space.

**note screen below has image with white background so that it shows circle shape better for this example only

To fill in this circle, with a background, click on Edit menu, then "Fill" then
choose custom pattern, and select one from drop down menu,
and click Ok and it chosen pattern will fill the circle.

Now I will show screen shots of doing this as a transparent image and
adding graphics to the circle, brought from the PC Hugbug Deluxe Browser
using the drag and drop, while holding down the shift key to
make the image transparent.

To fill circle, go to Edit menu, then "Fill", then choose
pattern from custom patterns you have defined or saved.

**I have a folder in my deluxe browser, just for backgrounds
and I have defined several of them as "patterns" in
my Photoshop elements program.
(See below for futher tips on adding patterns to Photoshop Elements)

*note - many of the background images that I bring into
the program, are very large - especially the PCCrafter images
so I try to resize them before saving them as patterns.
for small patterns like checks or small flowers, I resize to
50 x 50 pixels, as they seem to tile best this way. But
you may have to play around with sizing of various backgrounds
to get it just right for your purposes.

I brought from Deluxe Browser (dragging while holding down shift key)
the image from the
creatable "Honey Bunnies", I resized, by going to "Image" menu
and choosing "resize" and sized it to 315w x 342h pixels.
Then using the Move tool, I moved it or dragged it over
to circle and placed as seen below.

Then I brought over the circle frame from the
creatable "Frames for Today", and resized it, to
532w x 531h pixels and using the Move tool,
dragged it to the image.

I did not place any text on the image, but you can using the text tool
and choosing a font of your choice.

At this point you can save complete image from the File menu, Save choice or you can print (if image looks OK) - on my printer a HP 895 deskjet, I am able to print exact size, so image will print circle that shoud fit jiffy cover.
Some trimming adjustments may need to be made to fit cover.
**I print my covers using cardstock, and do not laminate.

Below is image - resized for showing on the web.
Note: I wasn't careful to look at image before saving
and saw that a bit of the background shows through
frame at bottom right. I should have dragged frame a
bit better to cover entire background. But with
trimming this image fits fine over cover of Jiffy popcorn.

Other tips:

Adding patterns to Photoshop Elements
Open background image of your choice from your computer files,
or drag images from Hugbug Deluxe Browser.

Resize image if necessary - an image that is a small pattern, like checks
ect. should be about 50 x 50 pixels. Resizing images for filling in templates
and or backgrounds, requires trial and error. PCCrafter images are very
large files and backgrounds that are frames, or a scene, may have to
be resized by half or more to fit on shapes or templates.

Then after image is resized, or if  the size you want already -
Go to Edit menu, choose Define Pattern and name it.
